Hillary Kaell, co-founder

Hillary is an anthropologist and historian of Christianity, studying the connections between people and things, humans and the divine. Her current work is on pilgrimage. She is traveling the world until September 2010, when she starts as an Assistant Professor of Religion at Concordia University (Montreal).

Jesse Shapiro, co-founder

Jesse is an errant evolutionary/computational biologist splitting his time between Cambridge, MA and Montreal, QC. He studied wild birds, yeast and African trypanosomes before settling on bacteria. He likes to think he can still use a pipette, but mostly he just uses a keyboard and a cup of coffee.

Sarah is an environmental microbiologist at the University of California Santa Barbara, studying the bacteria that live in several holes at the bottom of the sea.  She solves puzzles, writes doggerel, and embraces the serial comma.
